What a Blessing!

Our child turned 3 years old on March 13th. It’s no doubt we spoil him. I know there are some who cringe when I call him our child. “She has no idea what having a child is really like. She’s in for a big surprise!” Well I just have to stick my nose up to that and leave you to your superior lives.

I know I talk a lot about him on here but I’m not sure if I’ve even explained exactly why?

He came into our lives during a very difficult time. It was right after my first miscarriage. (This is totally off the subject but I can’t ever spell that damn word, thank God for spell check when I choose to use it.) Tyrone found him from this great family who lives in Roosevelt. Yes we got him from a breeder. For you liberal freaks you can just chill out alright? I’m not a big breeder supporter and we have chosen not to breed Frederick even though he is papered and a great looking boston for a male. We know we could make some decent money on the side but we have chosen not to go that route. We also haven’t had him fixed yet but the only sex he gets is with Mr. Bo Jangles when we’re at my family’s house and he is in fact fixed so I think we’re safe. I’ve had a few safe sex conversations with Fred to hold him off till we can afford to have him fixed. It honestly just has not been a priority but definitely is in the plans. This isn’t what I wanted to talk about.

Frederick is our little angel and even more so now since he survived being bulldozed by a car. He honestly is lucky to be alive – we are lucky to still have him here. He filled a very huge void we were feeling when we lost our first baby. By the time we lost our second baby he was ready to ride in on his steed and rescue our wounded hearts. He feels our pain and knows when to lick our tears. He is not oblivious or selfish. He is our constant companion and we wouldn’t have it any other way. I will give the world to anyone or anything that comes in to my life and blesses it the way that he does.

So for all you naysayer’s – you can suck it.

My dog's diet is better than mine with no hopes of changing any time soon. I care much more about what goes into his body than what I put in mine.

Pst!!

There is Giveaway coming soon...

Don't miss it.

Our weekend

Sunday I made Ty drive me around so I could take pictures. I have so many pictures right now that I want to share but I need to finish editing them. I've said this before but he is such a good sport. It was nice to be able to spend the ENTIRE weekend with him finally. We don't usually get to do this because he works weekends so much. Saturday we just hung out; cleaned, visited family, hung out at Guitar Center for a long while and made an awesome dinner.

I just love my little family.

{ty laughs every time I take pictures like this he's calls them "Myspace" shots}

Spring is Here!

At least it is for me.

Here is an easy DIY for a spring wreathe. I needed to updated the wreathe that is usually hanging on our front door to something more fun.

Materials:

Cardboard
Yarn
Ribbon
Fabric scraps
Felt
Pom poms

Cut out a wreathe shape from cardboard. I used one large bowl to trace the outer circle and one small bowl to trace the inner circle.

Wrap ribbon and yarn in an alternating pattern all of the way around the wreathe using hot glue hold in place.

Now glue flowers made from felt, tee shirt or any kind of fabric scraps you have laying around and glue pom poms in funky patterns to fill in any gaps. You can do this project in so many different ways.

I also made some sugar cookies to go a long with my spring fever and listened to this while I worked.

I want to go to this.

And

Party like this.

Can't wait to go to this.

Totally buying some of these.

Loving this! Can't wait to use it to jot down ideas.

Have a lovely Friday!

Lyriks I am Liking

I don’t have Hazel colored eyes. Mine are the color of my grandparent’s and my mother’s – various shades of blue.

Regardless.

I love the lyrics to this song.

Completely random.

But this is how I roll ya know?

Since being introduced to The Darkness I have grown so much in love with them. They are so fun. They started off as a Queen cover band because the lead singer sounds so much like Freddie Mercury. How can you go wrong with that?

Hazel Eyes – The Darkness

I hail from the flatlands of East Anglia
A town that once could boast prosperity
She had trekked for many moons from a land afar
But the cruel nets had emptied the northen sea

And she said "hoots, I cannae get back tae me hoos in bonny Scotland"

Girl with the hazel eyes - Aaaaah!
Girl with the hazel eyes - Aaaaah!

The elements had taken their toll on her
Her face was weather beaten and her hair greasy
I had never seen a set of eyes more hazeler
And a tear did fall as she looked up at me

And she said "hoots, I cannae get back tae me hoos in bonny Scotland"

Girl with the hazel eyes - Aaaaah!
Girl with the hazel eyes - Aaaaah!

I shall travel with thee
For to see your folks in Scotland
With their blessing, on one knee
I shall ask for your left hand

Girl with the hazel eyes - Aaaaah!
Girl with the hazel eyes - Aaaaah!
Girl with the hazel eyes - Aaaaah!
Girl with the hazel eyes - Aaaaah!

I shall travel with thee
For to see your folks in Scotland
With their blessing, on one knee
I shall ask for your left hand

DIY Banner

There is this plumbing store on 33rd S. that I saw the other day and I just had to pull over and take a pic of this sign with I saw what it said. So with a few modifications I now have a new DIY banner. From now on if you ever want to see any past DIY project just click on the DIY Banner in the upper left hand corner and you can see them all in one place.

Tyrone is thinking to himself right now how big of a nerd his wife is. (He's sitting next to me as I write this shaking his head in shame)

Ready to Rip out of my Skin

Don’t you ever feel like that?

I do.

But then I picture myself crawling out of myself and I get a little creeped out because my brain instantly goes to blood, guts and all.

BUT if I kept it clean, I could imagine a part of myself that is ready to be retired, peaking out of my forearm. Peaking out to say good bye; leaving it in the past.

Growing.

Maturing.

Moving on.

Live

Have Fun

Move on

-My life quote.

I shared my life quote with a friend recently. She liked the framed piece I did for my dinning area so I decided to do one for her. I like hers better than the one I did for myself. I think I’ll update mine in the future sometime.

It was easy to do, all you need is an old frame, paint and a printer.

DIY necklaces

{This is my new DIY banner}

Some necklaces that I've been working on made from old beaded necklaces, tee shirts and old shirts I had.
{Is it wrong to love how my boobs look in this pic?}

Inhale. Exhale.

They're just bloated.

They're just bloated.

They're just bloated.

They're just bloated.

They're just bloated.

They're just bloated.

They're just bloated.

They're just bloated.

THEY. ARE. JUST. BLOATED.

Ok I feel a little better now. Re-reading this helps.

Sweat It Out Summer Mixtape

I woke up from a dream the other night where I was this dope underground DJ and this playlist was rockin’ in the background. It was weird seeing Obama there chillin’ with a drink in his hand and Pee Wee Herman was there too – not a bad break dancer either.

Also - since it was 63 degrees on Sunday I have been itchin' for Summer and this mixt is just the thing to get me in the mood.

Weekly Confessional

I have more than a dozen of those reusable grocery bags that I’ve purchased here and there but I never use them. I try and I want to but I ALWAYS FORGET TO TAKE THEM INSIDE THE GROCERY STORE WITH ME.

This past weekend was probably only the third time I’ve used them and I’ve had them for at least a year now. It is pretty nice when you do use them, they fit more groceries and you don’t have to worry about the handles breaking unless you’re carrying around Volvos in them which wouldn’t surprise me if some yuppie tried that.

For the life of me I can’t seem to remember to take them inside.

Plus when I’m with the Hub I have to decide whether or not I want to listen to him bitch about them. He thinks only hippies use them.

Have I mentioned how much he hates the smell of patchouli? He goes into convulsions when he’s around it. It’s quite humorous.

I have a theory on yuppies & hippies; yuppies are hippies with money.

Work in progress

This will be finished in the next year or so...
I just finished a project with these...

Make Your Life A Dream

That's right, I walked into Cal Ranch and bought ONE horseshoe. Just one? Yes, just ONE. For my one legged horse. Thanks!!

Of course it was just for one of my crazy ideas. I've had this idea floated around in the old melon for weeks now and finally decided to just do it. It doesn't need much explaining I just took a horseshoe and painted it one of my favorite colors. I need a little daily reminder and this was the thing that was going to do it for me. A reminder for me to make my own luck and to do the things I need to do to reach my goals. So I hung it up where I could see it all of the time. (I think this may be a future tattoo.) I just feel drawn to horseshoes lately - Don't ASK! I can't never fully explain what goes on in my brain and I'm pretty sure you NEVER want me to go there.

Let your freak flag fly!

That is the new theme of this blog.

I encourage everyone to embrace their freak flag with in.
{this photo shoot was funny - my husband is a good sport}

Most people are familiar with the lyrics to this song and this phrase has been said in various ways over time so I know this isn't an original idea but I've decided to run with it.

Almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day, it's gettin' kinda long
I could-a said, "It wasn't in my way"
But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
Yes I feel like, I owe it to someone
-Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
Almost Cut My Hair (click to see full lyrics)

On the random side; one my favorite movies, Family Stone, (Love Luke Wilson!) quotes this perfectly!

Ben Stone: [to Meredith] You have a freak flag. You just don't fly it.
