Inspiration, Stevie style

I love this woman, even today she is the definition of cool. While many women rockers inspire the hell out of me, she does even more so than others. Honestly, who can pull off a top hat and pose with a bird? AND make it look cool.

I've been in a very bohemian, hippie-ish (emphasise on the ISH) sort of mood lately. It might have something to do with my next shop update, which I have decided not to add until after this holiday weekend. Since, I figure most people will be busy outdoors and not glued to the web, at least I would hope so.

All images were found through a google image search. One disturbing tid-bit I found while searching was that Lindsay Ho-han kept popping up - I typed in Stevie Nicks and a quarter of the pics that came up were of Ho-han. Is there some comparison between the two that I am not aware of? Dear Lord! Please say it aint so!!!

And now I want to buy all of these Stevie items I found on Etsy. This one, this one, and this one.

Weekly Confessional

I did not keep a journal when I was a young person. You know, before I was completely tarnished by time and consumed with bitterness. (The bitterness is subsiding slowly)

I do have a VERY. LARGE. stack of poems that I have accumulated since those tender years. Some of them are very embarrassing probably worse than if I had kept journal entries instead of putting my own sad, adolescent spin on my day-to-day feelings. I am contemplating sharing some of them in my weekly confessionals and some of the not-so-embarrassing ones may pop in from time to time.

When I was young, the thought of writing down what happened every day was very overwhelming and rather boring to me. I just couldn’t do it for more than a day or two. My mind spun so fast when I was young I could not concentrate long enough to write out an entire journal entry.

With the incredibly horrible memory that I have now as an adult sometimes I wish I would have been able to do this.

I would much rather sit and daydream and listen to music or draw or paint. OR many times I would write a poem about it. It was and still very much is a therapeutic way for me to deal with things. Most of the time after I have written about something I feel so much better afterwards. It doesn’t matter if I ever end up sharing it or not. The act of sitting down and writing it out or typing it out really helps me focus.

Wait. That was pretty confusing – how can I sit down and focus on writing a poem and not be able to keep a journal? Journals feel like homework; putting a creative spin on something is easier for me. Go figure.

Ok here we go. I wrote the below poem in 10th grade for an english assignment. It was one of those rare moments as a teenager that I was pretty honest with myself.

I am who I am
I wonder how people can be prejudice
I hear things I don't want to here
I want everyone to see through people's outward appearances
I am who I am

I pretend I like some people
I feel fat
I touch the sky in my dreams
I worry too much about my hair
I cry sometimes for no reason
I am who I am

I understand I am not perfect
I say too much sometimes
I dream of a perfect love
I hope I do everything I want to do before I die
I am who I am

--teenage Brandy (long before the zen master flash was even a thought)

Hahaa!

I got this one in today with 30 minutes to spare.

mini FYI's

The regularly scheduled Weekly Confessional is coming later today, actually tonight.

In the meantime I will leave you with this picture of a train covered in graffiti that Tyrone took for me with his phone the other day because he knows how much I love them.

Also, I wanted to answer a question about the bows in The Shop, they are about 41/2-5 inches wide and 11/2 inches tall that could totally be used for a baby or little girl (or boy I guess, lol). If the baby has fine hair you could clip it on a stretchy head band which would work perfectly!

Thanks for every one's support so far on The Shop! I appreciate each and every single comment, I really do!!!

Starting Monday morning this way is , well obviously, SWEET!!

The Shop is open...Finally! 2 Year Anniversary!

In honor of this blog's TWO YEAR anniversary, I am so proud to announce that I have finally opened up my Etsy shop. It was exactly two years from today that I decided to venture out on this blog trip. I can't believe it.

Please check out The Shop and Please, Please, Please let me know what you think, even if you don't want to buy anything. I need all of the feedback I can get. I decided to make only a few of each item to see what sells better and then I'll go from there.

I know people out there are reading my blog (unless my blog tracker is lying to me), I just don't receive a lot of comments. I average 6000 to 9500 views a month (maybe I should start offering sponsor ad spaces...?)

Here are a few peaks at what's in The Shop!

zenmasterflash.etsy.com

There are a few more things I am excited to add soon too!! Stay tuned!

I am also so behind on posting lately, I can finally start catching up. I have TONS of projects that I have done that I need to post. Last week was nuts, trying to open up my shop and working tons of OT at work has kind of kicked my ass. I'm a wusse!

Thanks for your support!

June 27, 2010

Without pointing any fingers, I have to say that someone has the WORST gas today.

He also has a raging case of halitosis.

Pretty much full of all sorts of disgustingness. I still let him lick my face though.

June 26, 2010

He was a nervous nelly at the Vet today, getting hit by a car will do that. Doc says he has a perfect body condition and would not stop commenting on how muscular he is. That's our boy!

Stay Tuned...

Big annoucement on Monday if all goes as planned (cross your fingers & toes!)

Have a lovely weekend, ya'll!

June 24, 2010

a little night out

can be so lovley

The Mr.'s Birthday

We kept things simple, mostly due to lack of funds and motivation. Tyrone is 3 years younger than me, he's not even 30 yet, just turned 29. Lucky dog!

Single girls out there? Listen to me, date younger & marry younger! I highly recommend it for a number of reasons.

I made the cake from a box. I've one made one cake ever from scratch but it was the best damn carrot cake I had ever eaten. I thought I would fancy the box cake up a bit, what do you think? I discovered that bubble wrap is the coolest to wrap gifts in.

Inspiration

Listening to Lykke Li's cover of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow - it's awesome! Check it out!

I need to resist turning on the TV tonight and drowned myself in music and DIY!!

Things to do...some day...hopefully

Learn Spanish (2 yrs. in school did nothing, 7 yrs. working in a restaurant was helpful but it's been about 7 yrs. since then, so I'm back to square one)
Learn German (anyone know of any good podcasts?)
Visit Germany
Visit Sweden (maybe just most of Europe - Rick Steves anyone? I love that show!)
Open Etsy shop (cross your fingers for me that this will happen soon)
Get the internet!!! (How is it that it is 2010 and we still don't have our own?)
Take Tyrone to Mexico
Get a better camera (maybe learn how to use it - I really just want it to do the work for me)
Learn graphic design
Beach cruiser (done!)
Buy a house (this is a ways off but I can still dream)
Get Photoshop! (iPhoto can only do so much)

Starbucks coffee & 7-Eleven coffee are pretty much on par with one another in my opinion. I love that we live nxt store to a 7-11!

Inspiration

There isn't anything out there that inspires me more than music. PERIOD.

Especially good old Classic Rock - ya know? The great kind.

Isn't that Fleetwood Mac picture just so bad-ass?

I could look at all of these pics till my eyes burned.

Ah, to have been a band-aide back in the day. That would have been heaven. I was definitely born in the wrong era.

Penny Lane: You're too sweet for rock and roll.
William Miller: Sweet? Where do you get off? Where do you get sweet? I am dark and mysterious, and *pissed off*! And I could be very dangerous to all of you! You should know that about me... I am *the enemy*!

Weekly Confessional

Have you ever purchased something on a whim from iTunes and about a week later regret sets in? I've done this many, many times. Mostly because I like pretty much all genres of music, even some country (but NONE of the new country music) and I also like some of the pop radio crap out there. This gets me into trouble sometimes. I have a bunch of crap in my iTunes library now. I am actually pretty embarrassed to admit I had made an effort to to enter my credit card card information so that I could have these. Some songs I came across that I purchased a bit back that need to go to the recycle bin are:

Smack That - Akon

Sexy Love - Ne-Yo (although this sort of reminds me of when Ty & I were dating - all of his songs sound the same)

Rodney Carrington (probably spelled that wrong but WHO CARES!! - about five songs of his that I purchased for my little brother a long time ago but some how they keep popping up - I think he is so gross)

and the most embarrassing of them all is probably...

Far Away - Nickleback (seriously, what was I thinking?)

and I will leave it at that and let the pictures do the talking (need to keep some things private on here)

I might regret this

maybe not..

If you're not the type to shy away from my potty mouth then you now have the option to follow me on twitter if you're a fellow tweeter  yourself...or twitter stalker is cool too. My twitter profile is now public; I guess I better not bitch about work as much anymore...not sure if refraining from this is going to be possible.

@masterflash7

It's always a good idea to read my tweets with a sarcastic tone.

I think I'm rather funny - others tend to disagree.
