Cat Mask!

I don't know why but I wanted a cat mask. I'm not even going to be one for halloween but I wanted it anyways. One day I would love to be cat woman but I'm not if I would dare try and pull it off.
I made it with a piece of scrap black pleather and black felt a bit of fabric-tac glue and some jersey for the strap. I measure my face from temple to temple and the space between my eyes. I made a template and used it to cute two of the same shape from the felt and pleather. I glued the pleather shape on top of the felt shape. I measure a piece of jersey for the strap instead of using elastic because I think it's more comfortable to wear. I glued an end of each strap between both shapes on each side at eye level.

With this shape you could even use it for a bat girl costume or just your every day feral black cat.

Bloody Mani

quickie diy post
{no need to cut the hang nails for this look}

This is a little take on the blood spatter mani I did last year. I wanted it to be a bit more "real" looking so I tried it with two different colors of red; one dark and one that was brighter. You may not be able to tell in the photos because of the filter I used but there are two different shades. I used a q-tip to put it on but that was a mistake. Next time I'll use a sponge just like I was supposed to.

Halloween is getting closer!!

In My Brain

Listening to Twilight Audio Theater on Shoutcast while I work has been the perfect ambiance for the Halloween season. If you don't know what it is it's like old school radio stories. Some are older than others. Like for example, today I listened to a story called The Night Of The Wolf with Vincent Price. If you're interested they have an app too for droids it's called Winamp and there's a Shoutcast section in the app that is cool. You can also listen to them on their site. It's also where I listen to old chool Art Bell shows. I'M A NERD, OK?!

I thought maybe this Halloween was going to be a wash because I was being a major baby about not being able to have a home to decorate but people at work have gotten into the spirit of things and are decorating their cubicles so that has been fun.

As far as costumes go I'm not sure what I'm going to be. My mom found an old 70's Elvis-style, white, polyester jumpsuit while we were thrifting last weekend and I found a really cool sailor/nautical dress but I'm not really feeling either of the two for myself. I think I'll just be a zombie as uncreative has they have become as far as options go, I think I'm OK with that for this year though.

I'm so effing tired today.

I need to catch up on Dexter (first episode was CRAZY Yo!)

I can't wait to see the season 3 premier of The Walking Dead. So far no one has spoiled it but from what I have heard it sounds like it was nuts-balls.

Today is my beautiful mom's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAISY!!

I've been writing this all day and it's embarrassing to say that it's all I could come up with for now. I'm so brain-dead by the end of the day every single day.

If you're reading this I hope you're having a lovely week.

:)

Junk Hunt

In the past few weeks I've scored some major finds for myself. I thought I would finally share some with you. I have scored three different pairs of Doc Marten shoes of which I am the most proud of. I wish I would have kept a hold of all of my old pairs that I trucked around in from back in the day.
bright red vintage sweater
brown docs
mexican belt
black vintage slip (broke a person rule with this one)
tie-die jersey dress
and vintage scarf

cotton stripe shirt
black docs (in perfect condition)
black & white oxford docks (pretty beat up but grunge is coming back, right?)
red and white 80's belt (it's hideous and I love it)

DIY Halloween Prints

What you'll need:

Magazine pages (preferably dark colored pages)
A white paint pen/marker
Your imagination (remember pre-K arts & crafts?)

Draw spooky designs onto the high fashion pages of the September Vogue edition like I did. I got kind of crazy with this idea with some others things too.
