DIY Nightmare Before Christmas Wreathe

I made this NBC wreathe to go along with the Monster Wreathe I made for this holiday season.

My inspiration for the wreathe was our Christmas tree and the below pics I took on our trip to Disneyland this past October.

One day I'll try to make this clock for Halloween

I need this candelabrum in my life now!

I took the simple approach to this wreathe. I had this white wreathe already so I didn't need to go out and buy one or make one.

I added some some fake holly bits, a hand-painted striped bow and of course, a skellington head.

The bow was easy to paint, believe it or not. I couldn't find any ribbon that looked like the one from Disney so I bought some wide chalkboard ribbon and painted the stripes on myself.

Now, the skellington head was not so easy to make. I tried Model Magic because it is lightweight, but I could not get it to mold how I needed it too, so I scrapped that idea. I went back to the air-dry clay that I used for the teeth in the monster wreathe. I haven't touched clay since high school, so this was not so fun for me. For the life of me I could not get it very smooth. You can see the bumps in mine but at some point I just had to say "fuck it" and go with it. Once the clay was dry I painted it white and added black eyes and nostrils.

I had plans to make a garland with a skellington head as well, but didn't end up leaving myself enough time. Honestly, I didn't want to after I was done with this one. Maybe next year, if I can find an easier way to do it.

After re-reading this post it is kind of a bummer isn't it? I sound like a Debbie Downer.

02.04.15 - Yes, it's still up.

My Christmas crap is still up. Tyrone said to leave it up all year so I just might. I don't even give it a second thought when I get home from work. I haven't been concerned with taking it down. For someone who doesn't like the holiday all together sure isn't in a hurry to get rid of it. Pure procrastination and just-don't-give-a-fuck attitude is to blame.

Christmas Day

We spent the day with my parents. It was quiet and nice. It was weird not having my brother or my nephews around but sometimes that's just how things work out. I got to lounge in my pajamas and lay on the couch all day.
It had not snowed yet in Utah in the vally. We usually start getting snow in October but this year it waited until Christmas Day. It was a nice surprise but now I'm over it.

Happy Christmas!

This is super late. Fuck it.

We couldn't decide between two different cards this year so we sent both out. It made up for not doing one last year.

These are not the actual cards that wee sent. Those photos were too large to keep on my phone so you're getting the Instagram versions which aren't that different anyways. I'm blogging from my phone today which is why you're getting multiple posts in one day. Suddenly I was nervous to get it all posted before the end of the year. Dumb, I know. Why start worrying about it now? I yell at myself.

Christmas Eve

We had Tyrone's family over to our place this year for Christmas Eve. It was really nice to spend time with them. I made enchiladas and cookies and we watched Scrooged and Bad Santa. My nephew and niece are older now so the level of adult humor they can handle is higher and it makes it funner. They both tower over me which still wigs me out because they were so little when Ty and I started dating. Kiana is 13 and 5' 10". Terrell is 17 and around 6' 2". Damn!! It blows my mind. What made it all really special was because we had not spent the last few holidays with them. I was just so glad it all turned out well.

Christmas around our place

If you know me I don't like Christmas, but I do like to decorate for it. I actually love sitting in my living room with the twinkle lights on watching Christmas movies.

German Christmas Market

A few weeks ago I went to the Christkindlmarkt at This is the Place heritage park. It's a historical place about Utah ie: super mormon-y. Alas, I can't resist German food so I was excited to go. My SIL loves the stuff too. We all went except Tyrone and my brother; they both had to work. Ther was a lot of walking around to do.
This pony tail is killing me.

Christmas Day 2013

To be honest, Tyrone spoiled me and I'm not trying to brag about it but it's just what happened. He was Mr. Holiday Spirit this year and I reaped the benefits from it. I like to bitch a lot but I really did marry a great man and our life is not bad at all - I'm so grateful.

With that said, I hated having Christmas on a Wednesday this year. It made for a really long week for those of us that had to work the day before and after. Christmas day should be like Thanksgiving but instead of the fourth Thursday it should be the third or fourth Friday. The 25th day is crap anyways we all know that really isn't any significance.

These are just some pictures of the day and from around our place.

every year I've been adding a few more bulbs to the tree - next year I want to kick it up a notch and make it into a Jack Skellington tree - I hope it works out!
