Some things about me

My cousin over at Stepmom Extraordinaire has been answering these questions about herself these past few days and I love reading them. I also follow this other blog who has been making lists of odd things about herself (I honestly can't remember who it is - I have way too many blogs in my Google Reader) so I thought I would make my own too. If you have a blog and decide to do the same thing please post a link to it in the comments section because I would L.O.V.E. to read it.
In no particular order...
  • I love being barefoot - my toes do not like to be confined for too long
  • I have a deeply involved relationship with coffee - it use to be Red Bull but now I won't even take a sip of one
  • I hate drinking water - I have to remind myself to drink it usually when I've already been hooked up to an I.V. from dehydration will do the trick
  • Krispy Kreme doughnuts hurt my teeth
  • I am a night owl
  • I don't like camping but I go anyways because of family pressure
  • I am not a good napper
  • Facebook annoys me terribly but I still spend too much time on it
  • I have a bunch of killer heels but I hate wearing them, so I don't!
  • I love being alone
  • I pray every day
  • The worst thing about being an adult is growing apart from people
  • I despise shaving my legs but am way too grossed out by hair to stop doing it
  • I use to direct a drama group and they won awards - Best time ever!
  • I've learned in the corporate world that the biggest bully is the won who wins
  • I can't roll my R's or whistle, or stick my tongue out very far
  • I could eat oatmeal & quinoa for every meal and be satisfied
  • I love vanilla ice cream but am far from being vanilla myself
  • I watch Ghost Whisperer even though it bothers me (lately all I watch is ION TV, channel 16 in SLC)
  • I hate country music anything from about 1999 on. I do love Dolly Parton though
  • I still have not used my sewing machine and I have had it since December (I think I'm scared)
  • I'm tired of weight and body image being a constant thought in my mind
  • Tropical smells are my favorite
  • I want a baby...soon...maybe...I'm scared of that too
  • I hate iced tea but love hot teas
  • I haven't had a Dr. Pepper in weeks
  • I hate running but I do it anyways - oh! and we are running a 5k this weekend - pure masochism
  • I wish we could phase Christmas out
  • I am scared of the dark
  • I have sensitive skin
  • I love Britney Spears & Adam Lambert
  • I have three books given to me from my MIL that I have not read yet
  • I still love Barbies, She-Ra, Strawberry Shortcake, Pound Puppies and My Little Pony dolls (they have She-Ra episodes on Hu-Lu I hope to catch up on them some day)
Okay that's enough for now. And now you have a little more of a glimpse of just how nutty I am. Hope you enjoyed reading! Don't forget to post a link to your own list - I really want to check these out!

Independence Weekend pt. 2

{Warning this is a jammed packed picture post}

On the 4th we decided get up off our buns and go for a hike - one that Ty had been on before and one that I had never been on. We drove all of the way out to Grantsville (west of where we live). It was somewhere by the Deseret Peak hiking trail. That is the trail we had directions for but some how we don't think we actually ended up on it. Whatever trail we did find was pretty gorgeous and ran sort of like a roller coaster. Half way through the hike we let Fred off of his leash and he trotted in front like he was the leader of the pack. He's grown so much, he's starting to listen better, he trotted just enough ahead of us so that we could see him the whole time. He was so happy to be free. The breeze was blowing just enough to keep us all cool yet it was hot enough we ended up with a little bit of sun damage to our cheeks. The sky in all of these pics ended up so incredible. I gasped when I uploaded them on Monday night. I didn't adjust a single one of these photos I swear. I totally lucked out and it was very hard to pick which ones to post so I'm posting most of them.

Flashy Roasted Pepper Sandwiches

Ok this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever tried to make and ever since it’s all I can think about (although I am still thinking about the German wieners from last week). I took a few different recipes that I saw out there and made my own version (out of character for me – I know).

I may be deceiving you a bit with my lack of instructions below (roasting the peppers takes some time) at exactly how long it takes but it is so worth the try. Plus, I really didn’t want to type out word-for-word what I did. If you decide to try it and have any questions you can always email me. Plus, the pics below should help you along the way too.

You will need:

Red peppers, Mascarpone cheese, Ciabata Bread, Garlic & Olive Oil

1. roast peppers, peel & slice 2. toast ciabata bread 3. mince garlic & roast in frying pan with olive oil 4. spread cheese along with olive oil & roasted garlic all over both pieces of bread 5. Layer peppers on top of cheese spread and cut into sandwiches

Tip: don’t substitute any of the ingredients

So easy.

Sort of.

DIY Studded Bracelet

I am finally getting to finally post some of my MANY DIY projects. I am going to try and post them over the next few weeks.

So ever since my husband's band has been performing I've been looking for ways to look less old (for lack of a better term).  I decide to makeover one of my old bracelets from about 10 years back. This was easy-smeezy. I took an old white plastic bracelet that had studs on it and took it apart. I then took a black belt from an old sweater and cut it to fit my wrist, attached the studs to the new black band and tied the ends together. DONE and DONE. Using the sweater belt made it stretchy and easily to get on and off. I do occasionally have to re-tie it when it gets loose but that doesn't bother me.
