DIY fingerless mittens

I used this tutorial as a guide to make these. I love how they turned out. After making a bunch of them for all of the women in my family I had to make my own pair.

On Christmas day my mom was showing my grandma her mittens and her response was classic, "What on earth are those good for?" You can see where I get my charming personality from. I laughed so hard  my nose almost bled.

Some pics of the others I made.

Weekly Confessional - me no spell so well

I leave auto-correct on when using my phone because even if something doesn't make sense at least it's spelled correctly.

DIY Embroidered Bookmark

Something to help motivate me accomplish another goal I've set for myself. It sounds silly but reading for 30 min. a day will be hard for me to do. I hate even saying that but it's true. I think a simple geometric embroidered bookmark will do the trick. Plus, the bookmark that I have been using I got in Hawaii from a past life that I left a long time ago. I had almost completely forgotten where I got until the other day when I remember and then vomited all over myself.
What you'll need:
2 equal sized rectangular pieces of glitter foam
glue
hole punch
needle
embroidered thread (a bright color is best)
yarn
scissors
Take one of the rectangular pieces of glitter foam that will be your top and this is what you will embroider. You don't need a pattern so don't worry about it being perfect. Take your thread and needle and start at one end making an uneven zig-zag pattern with the needle and thread until you reach the other end. Knot and tie off. Now take the other rectangle piece of glitter foam and glue back sides together. Let it dry. Hole-punch the top center and tie off with a yarn pom-pom in a contrasting color.

Now start reading creatively.

CLOSED! The Let It Fly Giveaway!

To ring in the new year I want to do a little giveaway to thank the readers of this blog. If you've been reading for awhile you know that my mantra is "Let your freak flag fly." It's what I've centered the blog and the shop around and is something I still do believe in incorporating throughout my life. It can be anything from letting the dishes go one day to enjoy a movie with your family, dying your hair bright fuscia to going sky diving. It's about thinking outside of the box and not going along with the herd.

Being true to yourself.
With that said, I'm giving away a freak flag from my shop to one lucky follower. It's a small gesture but one I hope goes a long way.

All you have to do is follow this blog publicly and leave a comment below letting me know how you let your freak flag fly.
Terms:
1. follow this blog publicly
2. leave a comment below letting me know how you let your freak flag fly
3. Open to all countries!
4. ends Friday January 6th

The winner will have the option to chose from a gold or silver flag.

Thanks for playing!

Casual Day Fashion Bits

One of my mini goals that I mentioned earlier this week was that I wanted to attempt to try a bit harder for the last week of casual days at the office. I did it so here it is. It feels good to cross things off of my list whether it's small or big.

The breakdown from what I can see after I thoroughly analyze each and every one of them (psh!) is that I like flats, and my new black skinny Joe's jeans that we found for $7 brand new. My mom was kind enough to get them for me. I like polk a dots and leopard print. To be honest I'm not sure how many fashion bits I'll do on the blog this year. I'm still torn between them. I think if I had an awesome camera I would feel better about and maybe losing some weight might help too. I've become a master at taking pics at "just the right angle" if you know what I mean. I love fashion and reading fashion blogs I really truly enjoy it but sometimes I find listing out each and every detail of an outfit sort of silly. We'll see what happens I guess.

Hope everyone everyone had a lovely new years. Ours was very calm and lazy which is exactly what I wanted.

One more thing, there's a giveaway on the blog tomorrow so stay tuned for that!
