7 Things - I love TV

1. Great Gatsby - I was worried I was going to have a similar experience to what I had after watching Les Miserables but I didn't. I loved this movie, I really, really did. I even got past the annoying doe eyes that are on Carrie Mullgan's face. I thought it would be even more extravagant and crazy but it wasn't for my taste. I mean, the critics killed it but I loved it so there you go. I clearly don't generally agree with them on most movies anyways. I really just enjoyed seeing this book on screen and Leo did great in it. I'm becoming more affectionate towards him in his adult acting days although I still see the skinny dweeb from The Beach sometimes when I look at him, although I never did that in this movie.

2. Furious 6 - we unabashedly love this movie franchise. All I have to say is Fast 5 was better but 6 was still fun to see. I mean, The Rock, come on.

3. Arrested Development - I am about half way through watching all of the new episodes. I love them even though the twitterverse is going ape-shit on them. Let's not take this too seriously people. Just have fun and watch it. Can I suggest, maybe, taking off your panties as to avoid getting them in a twist?

4. I quit the gym. It served it's purpose to get me through Winter without losing my mind and becoming a total cripple from sitting at a desk all day. Now I just have to make sure I stay a bit more active this Summer. (I'm totally laughing at myself just typing that.)

5. Breaking Bad - I'm so beyond annoyed that it isn't coming out until August 11th that I'm tempted to not even watch it. OK, I know I will but still. It's so frustrating. It's not like we're waiting for another season this is the SECOND HALF to the season we've been waiting a fucking eternity to see. That's TOO DAMN LONG.

6. The Voice - I get sucked in every season. This season has become a 90's country music time warp and even though that is when I was more fond of country music, and is decade which consists of songs that I happen to know a lot of the words to, I just can't with it anymore. It's too much. My mom and I are going crazy with it but my dad is in hog heaven. Last night they voted off the two best singers (next to Michelle) and you could hear Adam Levine say "I hate this country" just before the two were announced to be leaving, I laughed so damn hard because it really does seem like Merica doesn't know what is up when it comes to good taste sometimes. My favorite by far was Sarah (who was voted off) because she used to be in a screamo band. She can screech like nobody's business. I love her! The other girl was Judith and she used to sing with MJ. You can see her on this This Is It movie. She is amazing too. I'm going to spare you with all of my mean and judgmental comments that I have stewing in the black culdron that is my gut about Blake's team. Let's just say that last night I just kept yelling, in my most annoying southern slang Merica, Merica, Merica...I could video it for you if you want to get the full effect?

I'm sure my dad loved me for it.

How annoying do you think I am now? I could probably get a lot more annoying if you wanted to test me.

7. Finished Freaks and Geeks - I can't fully express my love for this show. I'm so sad there aren't more episodes to watch. It was brilliant.

1978 is my birth year so finding this gem was very exciting for me in my mundane life. I wanted to share every page and I almost did. Lucky for all of us!!

7 Things

snapped this great view of Mt. Timpanogos a few weeks ago on a rare visit to Provo

1. Mothers Day was exhausting. I'm still trying recuperate from that weekend, so much so I can't even find the words to type up all that happened.
2. Watched The Office season finale tonight and I am not afraid to admit I shed a few tears. Between dealing with that and hearing my parents screaming at each other in the other room I felt like a hormonal teenager again. It didn't help that I'm on my period either.

3. We did the Susan G. Komen mile walk (not the whole 5k) for Tyrone's work. He works for Ford and they are a huge donor and support for that campaign. It was great to spend the morning with him and support a great cause. Every where you look around you these days there are multiple women who have or have had breast cancer. It's crazy. Afterwards, we had breakfast at Einstein's Bagels and I did some thrifting before heading back to good 'ole Utah County.
This was for sale at Savers just like this, frame included. Whuh?

4. I've been bonding with Jax the last few times he's been over. This kid is awesome.

Over Loan Peak it looked so dark and ominous the other day.

5. My brother talked me into doing cart wheels and having a hand stand contest with him because that is the effect he has on me. I fall for his stupid shit every time. I had not done either one of those things for LIKE FOREVER. I was so dreadfully sore the next few days.

6. I’ve been watching Freaks and Geeks on Netflix and am loving it.

7. Bill Hader is leaving SNL. This makes me so sad because Stefon has become one of my all-time favorite characters. See some of his sketches here.

Leaving Las Vegas

One Friday night a few weeks ago Tyrone came home from work and asked me if I wanted to go on a road trip to Vegas for the day Saturday. Without hesitation I said yes and jumped at the opportunity to spend an entire Saturday with him. Before this day I couldn't remember the last Saturday I had with him where it was just him and I. It was one of the best days I've had in a while. Driving to Vegas and back in one day can be a drag but I didn't even notice because we had such a nice time. OK I'm done with being cheesy.

7 Things

1. I feel myself getting all worked up like a mom defending her asshole of a kid who just kicked dirt in another kid's face because he though it would be funny, recently when people call pregnant Kim K. fat. Listen, I get it, I really do, and I understand comedy, but some people aren't just using her for a cheap joke some people really think she is fat. I mean, my husband can't even walk by a gossip rag with her on the cover with out saying something "funny" about her. And this is someone who he has continuously drooled over in the past. She is pregnant first of all, and when you take someone who is naturally curvy, is SHORT, has large breasts and a big booty and you take away their waist? Then yes, they will look like a round ball (or a floral couch due to recent events). I guess I get defensive because I know, I KNOW, that if I do ever get pregnant then I am sure I will look worse than her. I am short, have a big ass, and boobs. The bad thing is I don't really have much of a waist at the moment and definitely do not exercise as much as she does so I can only imagine what pregnancy would do to my body. Ok, I'm done.

I'm not exactly comfortable with myself that this was number 1 on my list, but if I relate it to women's rights it deserves the spot.

2. The Office. Only two episodes left. I am already crying. In fact, I almost started crying during last week's episode when Dwight FINALLY became manager. The exchange between him and Jim after was priceless too. Sorry, if this was a spoiler for anyone, but it's been a week already. I could write an entire post about this show and it's influence on my life. I admit when Steven Carell was leaving it was not as funny but the last two seasons have stepped up, especially this year it has been so funny which only makes losing them so much worse.

3. Velveeta Mac' n Cheese and chocolate milk are my all-time comfort foods.

4.

5. Tonight on my way home from work I finished listening to this. I needed a refresher from high school (I think that is when I read the book?) before seeing the movie when it comes out soon.

6. I have Halloween on the brain a lot lately. I've already come up with a few different costume ideas.

7. Last but oh so not least, did you catch this last night on Late Night? I didn't either because I crashed hard right before it came on. So. Damn. Funny.

Mad Hungry Cravings

I never pre-order anything but for some strange reason I did with this book. The photography is so gorgeous and the sort-of gritty side to it really pulled me. This is starting to sound like a sponsored post but I assure you it is not. I've loved Lucinda for some time now ever since watching her on Everyday Food on PBS. I hate her as much as love her. I want to be her but hate her snooty personality. It's about the way I feel about Martha. I can't wait to have my own kitchen again someday so I can start testing the recipes.

Item of the Week - The Shop

Ahoy Matey, Vintage Nautical Sailor Dress

Dreadfully this doesn't fit me or there is no way I would ever get rid of this dress. This darling nautical dress is too cute, but it can be sexy too with the right pin-up accessories and heels. See the listing in The Shop for more details.

For a bit edgier nautical dress check out this 80's version that I LOVE.
