Junk Hunt

I found these incredible books a few weeks ago at the thrift store. I can't wait to find some time to read them. Although I still haven't finished THIS book so we'll see how this plan pans out.

A little something on the side

I shipped the giveaway winner's package out to her tonight. Does anyone else think of a penis when they say the word 'package'? Just me? Ok.

I also worked on some merchandise tags that I feel good about settling on. Now I need to start selling some things. I think I need to go back to my first passion.

I also finished a small halloween project that I can't wait to post in about a week.

This fall I can't wait to mix up the wardrobe a bit and work on some things for The Shop and listen to this every day. I got some good suggestions from my adorable cousin that I need to add to it.

It already smells like pumpkin spice in my house too.

I will say that I'm still listening to this for awhile and working on these  and wishing I could do this for awhile longer.

I am finally making some good headway on this book. I am not sure about them making it into a movie though. I will of course go see it when it comes out.

the worst tour guides ever

Because my mom rarely experiences the "big city" she likes to pretend she's on vacation when she visits Salt Lake City. I think my parents barely live 30 miles away from me. Need I say more to try and make my point?

So, since she lives in her fantasy land she calls me her tour guide when we are walking around downtown together.  A few weekends ago Tyrone and I and our parents strolled around for awhile. I'd like to say it was a total blast and I am a super lucky young lady to have experienced such a lovely time with her family but that would be FALSE. After we stopped by Craft Lake City which I mentioned before gave me anxiety we decided to go eat somewhere downtown. One problem with that is that place shuts down around 5pm. It's funny you read all of these awesome things in the City Weekly that go on but when you're really walking around and take notice not a damn regular place to eat is open at night and especially on the weekends. It's rather troubling especially to two tour guides who are trying to impress the "out-of-towners". To cut this short, we walked too many blocks only to end up back to the car to head back by our house to eat at Rancheritos. Right, and I forgot to mention that Tyrone and I were so ornery with each other. I was being my regular mean self and Tyrone was doing his NEVER SHUTTING THE HELL UP thing. What a lovely mix that and I can tell you that my parents and Tyrone's mom were quite impressed with the entertainment that came along with their guided tour of "the city".

The back of his head because we weren't speaking to each other

This pretty much sums it up

This is a place that Tyrone and I went on our first real date a night we were speaking to each other

Safety first! Tyrone likes to grab multiple flags when crossing the street waving them around like a lunatic. What a dork! He did this almost every day during lunch too when were worked together. Totally not embarrassing at all.

This picture in Rancheritos that I love
*I have to say that I am loving reading all of your comments on the Giveaway post about which bands that you are all listening to right now. I've discovered some new things and have discovered we all have a lot in common in music tastes. Sweet! Keep them coming. I forgot to mention that the giveaway ends Saturday!

**FYI I finally finished the book I found awhile back - Midnight at the Palace - it was good, not spectacular. Good enough to satisfy my 70's addiction that I've had lately.

on one of my junk hunts

I found this crazy book about this theater group, the book is called Midnight at the Palace it's about 1969 in SF. So far I love it. I'm almost done with it. The cover is so cool! Who doesn't love a naked man in a grocery cart?

if any of you are following along I still have not finished this one

The Road, finally

We finally were able to see the movie The Road. After reading the book we have been dying to see it and I have to say I loved it.
"Are you carrying the fire?"

Finally a good book to start reading

I had these shipped to the office instead to my house because I am sneaky like that. Not that I feel I have to hide this from the Hub I just think things are more fun when you're being sneaky. Ha! I watched Big Fish the other night and started this book today. I'm betting it's going to be better than Eat Pray--Puke!

Books

Started this:
Couldn’t finish it, so I moved on to this:

Having a hard time getting through this one as well and I love fashion. Seeing the movie first, which is totally different, probably didn’t help. Maybe I'll want to pick up Eat Pray Love again to finish reading it after seeing the movie? I hear Julia Roberts is going to be in it.

I may be having some difficulty with my book choices lately.

The End.

The Road

Tyrone and I just finished reading this book this weekend in time for the movie to come out this week. I can't wait to see it.

Last Week

Just as we were ready to run away to Mexico something incredibly cool happened, Ty got a job. It's been about a month with out one, actually more since for the last few months at his last job he wasn't making any money. (Don't even get me started on how he got help up at gun point and his boss leaving him and his co-workers stranded in Elko.)

So things are starting to look up. I asked my mom the other day, "Why am I so happy, my life sucks?" Ha! We have surprisingly stayed up-beet through it all.

Did I mention that while we were planning our wedding Ty quite two jobs? Two jobs that didn't work out through out the winter months. So, since we've been engaged he has had three jobs. Tomorrow morning he starts his fourth. Lord, give me your strength!!

We have had some rough days but we continue to look towards the future and the things we want to keep going.

Last week I read this book: Notes from Underground - Fyodor Dostoevsky

It was good. For some reason I was compelled by his ranting and bitterness.

Night by Elie Wiesel

I read this book recently. It's great. It took me only a few days. If I hadn't been so busy at the time or had a full time job it would have taken me only a few hours. It's short but very very good.

Finished another book

Just finished this today. Loved it! I guess there is controversy over whether is it true or not. Read it as if it is fiction; it will be delightful. It's not kid friendly so don't be reading it to the kiddies for bed time stories. And if you're squeamish of the all forbidden "F" word DON'T read it. Although if you can let that go just this once it may be nice to try something different; just a thought.

Friday Nights now that I'm 30...

From getting kicked out of Bowling alleys to sitting home alone (with Frederick) on a Friday night. But this is my choice and I love it. I chose to sit home tonight to finish my book and surf the web and watch 20/20. Barbara Walters bugs, I just had to say that.

I finally finished the book I've been reading almost all summer and the first part of fall. Wicked! I love this book. I just have to say that it is so good and because I have not seen the play or heard the soundtrack to the play that I was able to fully enjoy it. I was warned that it is nothing like the play. It was much more deep than I usually care for when I read but I am happy to have read it. It's political, spiritual, questions religion and asks you to think for yourself. There is nothing more freeing than thinking for yourself. As an adult I am experiencing it in the most fulfilling ways. I loved, loved this book.
"Those times are over and gone, and good riddance to them, too. We were hopelessly high-spirited. Now we're the thick-waisted generation, dragging along our children behind us and carrying our parents on our backs. And we're in charge, while the figures who used to command our respect are wasting away."

This is what I have to put up with every time I am either reading a book, a magazine or on the computer. He can't stand for you to not be paying attention to him. He will inch and slink his way in between whatever you are doing. He is such a shit but I love him so much. He has the coolest and most genuine character a dog can have. This pic is of him saying "Look at me! Look at me!"

So I saw this book in Urban Outfitters and wanted to buy it immediately but I resisted. (You know because of the economy and all...lol) It's hilarious; "Stuff White People Like". And no it's not a site for the Arian Nation. They recently posted a blog about white people and pea coats. I laughed so hard because that is the thing I wanted most on my birthday wish list and I made sure my parents bought it for me. OMG! I am so white! Aaaa! I've been fighting it my whole life but I have to face it, I am a white girl in almost every sense except for my big booty. Check out their site to the right under my Connected section.

If you can't laugh at yourself and at life in general how sad would that be?
I had to add another pic from my kid themed birthday party.

Ready for my pocket protector

I have to say how proud I am of myself. I have read 5 books in 6 weeks. I don't think I read that many books from 7th grade -all of the way up until I was 28. I've always hated reading unless it was poetry or magazines. I started by finishing up the Posie GraemeEvans trilogy with The Uncrowned Queen. Then off I was to Hairstyles of the Damned by Joe Meno which was pretty fun. One of my favorite co-workers suggested I read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls--I loved it!! It was so good to read something I could relate to openly and honestly. My mom gave me Save Me From Myself by Head from Korn. I like Korn but really didn't really like the book although it has a great message I won't take that away from him. To end my book reading spree I read A Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It was so strange and totally out of my realm but I am very glad that I read it. He was an incredible writer for his time
