7 Things

1. Every time I play The Simpsons Tapped Out game I want a donut. So, just about everyday.

2. Tyrone graduates in less than a month. I am so excited for him!

3. I made Game of Thrones cookies on Valentines Day and ate just about every single one of them by myself.

4. On Friday The 13th I had to take Fred to the vet. Brace yourself or move on if you don't want to hear the disgusting reason why.

[Waiting for those that need to step away]

He had one of his anal glands become backed-up, which is apparently really common in small dogs. He'll be 8 next month so the fact that it's never happened before is pretty good, so I learned. I didn't even know such body part existed. They play an important role in helping them determine which pile of dog crap belongs to what dog. No shit! (No pun intended) His anal gland was actually swollen pretty badly and wouldn't excrete out of the anus like it should. It made its own hole and came out what we now call his secondary butt-hole. Because of that, he had to be put under to have it cleaned out and the vet was worried that he may have had a mass because he could feel a lot of tissue in there. Luckily there was no mass and almost two hours later I was able to come back and pick him up. It was the worst couple of hours. He freaked out this time. It was much worse than when he got fixed and had his teeth pulled. He remembered being there before and the look on his face when the doctor took him from me was horrifying. His big eyes glared so hard when I walked away. It was so awful! I was having major anxiety since it was so unexpected and the looming thought of cancer was not fun to have at the forefront of my mind while we waited. I'm just so fucking thankful he is okay now and we only have to take him in once a month now to have them cleaned regularly. He's my best buddy and I would die if something happened to him.

5. My little nephew Jax just turned two years old. I haven't seen him in a few weeks and I can't wait to squeeze him this Saturday. He won't like it but I'm doing it anyways.

6. My brain is not right lately.

7. Of Mice & Men is coming to SLC in May - I need to go to that show.

What the Pho?

It's too easy of a pun to make. Tyrone wants to start a restaurant called that since he is such a fantastic chef especially when it comes to Vietnamese cuisine. Ha! I told him there is probably a place already called that.

I was dying to try to make Pho. I love giving myself a reason to go to the Chinatown supermarket. I researched a lot of recipes and finally ended on Old Faithful. Martha Stewart. Most of the recipes were similar. Next time I make it I'm skipping boiling the meat. I don't like boiled meat plus it takes too long. It's gross too. I know it's the whole basis of the soup but I don't care.

I love the comforting spices used in Pho and it makes great leftovers.

*i ended up making this again using beef stock and it was really good. Buying a flank steak and cooking it separately,  slicing it up, and placing on top was perfect.

PIerce The Veil 01.30.15

Friday, January 30 we went to see Pierce the Veil at the Great Saltair. I bought our tickets early because I've been waiting for them to come back to Salt Lake City. They are on tour with Sleeping with Sirens and PVRIS, both of which I don't know much about. I mean, I know Sleeping with Sirens but have never really died over them. They are good no doubt. I actually don't know anything about PVRIS and even still couldn't tell you much about what they are like because we showed up to the show right before PTV went on stage and missed PVRIS. It was a perfect night for my old body. I went all out during PTV's set because they were who I went to see and let's be honest, my days of standing around for hours during sets that I don't care about are winding down. I'm not saying I don't care about PVRIS - I have heard some songs and I really like them a lot. Lynn has a great voice. She came out to sing with PTV during "Hold on til May" and it was pretty cool. It's hard to see the stage at Saltair when it's crowded as fuck, which it was.  I think I heard this show was practically sold out. Even with all of the short kids that show up to these shows I was still having a hard time really seeing the stage all that well. I am 5'4" and tower over most of them. It feels great. These hobbits aren't easy to push through though. Making my way towards the stage was not going to happen.

these pics aren't going to mean anything to anyone but me

This show came at a perfect time. I needed the therapy. They played so well and it was so much fun I wanted to cry. This is my favorite pic of the night - it sums it up perfectly.

Once PTV's set was finished, we went up on the balcony in the 21+ section to grab a cold beer. I was spent at that point so we stayed through a couple of SWS songs and then left. We did get a great view of them on top though. I wish it would have been that way during PTV, but then I would have missed all of the jumping, sweating, fist pumping and screaming with strangers.

It was packed!

on top of SWS

My dream would be to see PTV at the Murray Theater. It's small and the sound in there is great. After seeing Chiodos there I want to see very band there.

Adam Elmakias was on tour with PTV and has a blog with all of the photos he took with them. They are fucking incredible - check them out. I follow him on instagram and love seeing what he posts. If you follow PTV then you probably already know about him. This one is adorable. There are some great shots in there too of them out on the Great Salt Lake.

Dragon Shirt DIY

I bought this fabric months ago and it was only until a few weeks ago that I finally put my scissors to it. I wanted to make a shirt out of some iridescint or dragon scale type fabric. If you could look past the fact that this fabric is more crocodile than dragon scales then we can be friends. Thanks for humoring me.

I used the basic pattern of another shirt I had to start and measured my bust and waist area. It's similiar to the boston head shirt I did here.  It was really that easy to follow this type of open pattern. The  green fabric is actually really comfortable too. The black fabric is a nicer semi-stretch cotton that is really thick feels nice. I didn't hem the collar to keep it even more simple but the sleeves and bottom hem are all locked up tight.
it looks a bit crooked laying hereon the blanket but it's the straightest I've ever sewn

Get In My Belly - DIY Print

It just came to me as I stared into the bowl of chupa chups on my coffee table. I wanted something food related and whimsical hanging int he kitchen. Who says whimsical? I'm not even sure this is what that means.

After finally figuring out that I could print photos so FREAKING EASILY from my phone with the Cannon printer app I've got all sorts of ideas floating around in my skull. I took the pic on my phone and edited it on the A Beautiful Mess photo app because their app makes adding text to photos easy.

7 Things

1. You guys, this shirt. Dead. I love it. I know it looks a little like Sulley from Monsters, Inc but who doesn't want to look like a lovable cartoon character? On the other hand, the shoes gotta go. Her style is non-stop slaying though.

2. I made a shirt and I can't wait to share it.

3. It's supposed to be 65 today in SLC. We're apparently getting Spring early even though that dirty gofer-thing saw his shadow or didn't see it - whichever one means 6 more weeks of Winter.

4. Going to lunch today with my BFF. We're city working girls. [nerds]

5. I want to redo the dresser in my bedroom like this one (another) from Dos Family. My dresser is not the same style or shape but i want to use this design style to redo mine. I love it soooooooooooooooo much!

6. It feels good to be blogging more.

7. Tyrone doesn't know this but I really want to buy a new computer if we (fingers crossed) get a tax return this year.

02.04.15 - Yes, it's still up.

My Christmas crap is still up. Tyrone said to leave it up all year so I just might. I don't even give it a second thought when I get home from work. I haven't been concerned with taking it down. For someone who doesn't like the holiday all together sure isn't in a hurry to get rid of it. Pure procrastination and just-don't-give-a-fuck attitude is to blame.

2015 Challenge - Monthly Doodle

I was going to do another year of monthly selfies, but I honestly I really wanted to try something else to challenge myself for 2015. I'm going to try to be more creative and actually put pen to paper - literally. I want to try and come up with some sort of doodle or art piece every month. I might even throw in a painting or something terribly weird.

I see funny T Rex memes all over tumblr and this one just sort of came to me. I had fun doing it and I guess that's the whole point of this exercise.
