DIY Shoot An Arrow Through My Heart Necklaces

Or just hand painted wooden beads, braided jersey necklaces. Mouthful.

The Main Materials:
Jersey strips pulled tight
Paint
Wooden Beads

Other Materials:
Some sort of finish for after painting the beads
Scissors/Rotary Blade
Self-healing Cutting Mat
Paint Brush

Paint any sort of design you want on your beads, I chose a simple arrow in sea breeze. I matched it with strips of eggplant jersey. After the paint has dried and after you put a finish on the painted beads you're ready to hang them on your jersey. You'll need to cut seven strips of jersey and pull them tight after you've cut them. You can cut the strips as wide as you like, mine are about an inch wide and about 34-36 inches in length.
With one of the strips you will want to tie a loop at one end, thread the beads on the loose end and then tie off the other end with another loop. Take three strips for each side and fold in half looping through each end of the beaded strip. Fold in half and braid each end and tie off.
It'll end up any where from 10 inches to 13 inches in length depending on how long you cut your strips and where you tied it off. You can keep it any length you want - that's why it's DIY baby! It's all up to you. Done!

I made three all together, one for myself, naturally, and two for The Shop. If you're not into making one yourself you can buy one from me.

Junk Hunt

another find that I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with but I love it nonetheless - halloween maybe?

Weekly Confessional

I went back on my word and watched the finale of American Idol last night and I am actually glad that Scotty won even though he is super, duper country. He seems like a good kid.

I finally finished Pride & Prejudice & Zombies after over a year. Having it take over a year to finish should have been an indication that it was too bad to finish. I wanted to like it, I really did. I like Jane Austen, I loved her even more in high school. I like zombie stuff and women who kick ass. BUT this was too slow for me, I guess. I will however watch the movie if it ever comes out.

I hate Root Beer.

I HATE Diet Coke. That shit is poison.

I hate hot chocolate - unless it's real homemade hot chocolate. That powder crap is the worst. I do however love the little dehydrated marshmallows that come with it. I could eat those plain. Do they sell those separately? If not that's my idea don't even think about stealing it. Golden! If you follow me on twitter you already know my disdain for hot cocoa a la crapola and may have even been offended by what I said about it last Saturday. I was being a bratty teenager because I had not had my morning makeout sesh with a cup of coffee yet. After our run my mom offered hot chocolate which in turn made me lash out in rebellion by tweeting a sexual connotation where in I tell hot chocolate to do something dirty to me if I were of the opposite sex. (see what you're missing by not following me) I don't watch my follower numbers vigorously like some do so I'm not sure how many I lost after that tweet but I'm sure there were a few bots that I pissed off.

I always wonder if I'm on some one's DO NOT READ list. You know one of those lists that say "Bloggers I love (but not really)" just to throw me off.

After tomorrow I do not have to go back to work until Wednesday, June 1st.

Fist pump!!

cotton candy days

cotton candy days

moments when they're at the surface

I feel everything more

the tips of my fingers buzz

a tear hangs by a thread

I'm fearful of it falling

more than likely it will

focusing on that tear

distracted from reality

it pushes me further away

happier though

the Sun beams inside me

back and forth tilting away

like children lost in the clouds

whispers are louder

and ghosts are nearer

I float by on a little red boat

feet dangling beneath pale pink tulle

and lip stick smeared across my cheek

shoes are not required since

I'm not really going anywhere

drifting in the blue

carried by my dreams

the gray is near

but it only hurts for awhile

humming lullabies and

sipping on gin and juice

till I surface for breath

and the elevator door opens

welcomed by trickery

I step inside because of the fear

and hold tight

for cotton candy days

Cotton Candy Sugar Cookies

Sugar Cookie Ingredients
{This recipe makes a soft sugar cookie}
3/4 c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
2 c flour
2 t baking powder
1 t salt

Cream shortening and sugar together. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder, and salt. I don't roll out this dough and cut shapes out of it I just roll into balls and it will flatten out and make perfect circles. Unless you want different shapes I suggest not wasting your time by rolling the dough out. It's my least favorite part of making sugar cookies so I'm glad I found out how to avoid that.

Bake 350 for 9-10 min
Cotton Candy Frosting
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 t vanilla
milk - add til you get your desired consistency
4-5 drops of cotton candy flavor
My MIL bought this for us because she knows how much we love cotton candy, cotton candy ice cream and cotton candy salt water taffy - we're fiends

Ice cookies - we chose making two different colors and slightly mixing them together

betta recognize!
Tyrone's obligatory thumbs up. I can't even tell you how many times this thumb has show up in my photos. He's always sneaking it in there.

back roads in my hometown
This is the old movie theater in my hometown. Locals call it Sticky Shoe - and yes it's fitting. The below pics are the same picture that I edited with my favorite new app called Little Photo. It has a ton of features on it. I'm also loving Photo Grid for android.

we were standing across the street at an antique lawn sale when I took this - everything was way too expensive but there was a bunch of cool stuff though

ominous to say the least

At least the clouds were cooperative on the eve of the supposed doomsday

Das Weekend

Friday evening we sold the U2 tickets Tyrone won and decided to treat ourselves to BBQ & a leisurely weekend. That evening we also went to our friend UGLYSHEEP's art show which is always a good time. He does such good work. I was so glad when we finally sold the tickets because Tyrone was starting to hint at going and I was dreading it to say the least. I do not like U2 and I understand saying that is a bit blasphemous seeing as how the entire state we live in just DIES for them along with the rest of the country. It's almost as bad as saying you don't like The Beatles - which I don't either.

a new manicure - yes I still paint my nails like a 12 year old
I scored some Joes jeans on Thur night for $6. They're a bit long but are in perfect condition. I was surprised they fit me because if I eve get lucky enough to find decent jeans in a thrift store they're usually a size zero or 2. I'm not either one of those sizes just wanted to clarify that.

Saturday I went running with my beautiful mom (I should have just crawled; probably would have gotten more out of it) and then we drove around and also ate at one of my favorite little bakeries in AF. That evening we had a Kava party at the in-laws with some of their friends. I didn't drink any - it's not really my thing but I did eat a million of my SIL's hot wings. She has the best recipe for them.

Sunday was great, we went to church (we've been trying out a new place - which sounds weird typing that but...) saw Pirates of the Carribean 4 (loved), went grocery shopping and drove around a bit. We like Sunday drives. I started some new necklaces too which I'm hoping to post about.

I have a bunch of things I want to post about but I lack the stamina to punch them out tonight. Hope you all had a good weekend and if you are someone who has been affected by any of the tornados or bad weather our thoughts are with you.
