a face lift was in order

The Blog...

and The Shop got a little makeover...

My blog three year anniversary was June 28th. I wanted to do something special that day but since I was mentally incapable of handling any sort of task I opted for a new masthead/header for The Blog and The Shop. I've only had this planned for the longest time. I can't believe how long it took to finally do it. I feel like since it's been on my to-do list that it should über spectacular. I kept with the same theme as you can see (unless you're in your google reader). I'm just happy that I managed to have Tyrone help me with out us getting a divorce. I don't know what it is about us getting together to do take pictures like this that makes us fight like crazy. This was probably the smoothest it has ever gone. I have some more pictures to post of the building that I stood in front of and some behind the scenes that I want to post.

Also I got a little cocky with this one but what kind of buzz and or hype are you going to create about your business if you don't start it yourself. Some day it will catch on. That is the plan.

Independence Weekend part 3

weber canyon (it's been uncharacteristically green this year in UT)
Towards the end of our road trip we decided to stop at a cantina in Park City to eat dinner. It was delicious, nice and relaxing. We left satisfied, fat and happy. We talked about staying in town to watch their city's firework show but ended up deciding to see Sugarhouse park's with my brother in-law and sister in-law's family. We ended up back home just in time to relax before we headed to the park. As soon as my fat ass stood up out of the car I panicked. I realized I had left my purse back in Park City. It's about 20-25 minutes away from our house and up Parley's canyon. I think Tyrone may have cursed me and kicked the dog in anger but I didn't notice because I blacked out from all of the rage. Embarrassment set in after I decided to dial the restaurant to see if they would hold it for me. Thank GOD no one grabbed it and the nice waiter even offered to bring it down to us because apparently he lived in Murray too. I could not let him do that on July 4th - I already ruined our night so I told him it wasn't necessary. The selfish side of me wanted to let him but I just couldn't. When Tyrone's anger had finally subsided he said he could pick it up on his way home from work since he has been working in Park City the past few weeks. It sounded perfect but for some reason we decided to drive back up and grab it. It ended up working out (you already know this if you follow me on twitter) because we decided to stay for their firework show. We set up our blanket on some corner with a bunch of strangers and had a great time. We even shared our sparklers with them. Not me, because I'm not a big sharer or big on making eye contact with people I don't know. It was all Tyrone's doing because he's outgoing and nice like that.
he was hiding under the blanket - not because he's scared of the fireworks, he's actually really good around them other than when he's trying to bite and or fight them, he doesn't like the rain and it was sprinkling a bit

I wasn't able to capture a single decent picture of a firework but you can see some nice ones here

Fertility 101

... according to africans and some white people, so I'm learning. All you need is one of these bad boys.

If you follow me on twitter (@Letting_It_Fly) you already know that I received a fertility necklace in the mail from my cousin in Reno. She swears by this thing. She sent it with such a sweet note so I have to give it a try. My mom commented on one of my recent Weekly Confessionals that I would be receiving it soon but that in no way was she going to touch it. I thought she was referring to the "magical" "freaky" "satanic" side as to why she wouldn't touch it knowing her. Turns out she just didn't want to end up with child in her tied tubed state. Silly mom. A frickin miracle no doubt would have to happen.

Back to the story, this necklace was given to my cousin by her grandfather where he picked it up on a trip from Africa. After he gave it to her she got pregnant with twins. Two other friends of hers who borrowed it got pregnant and after she sent it to some other cousins their adoption went through. Sounds pretty convincing enough. She said you don't even have to wear it that just having it in your house will work. It came in a little black pouch and she said it was a bit tarnished because she wasn't about to touch it again. She is so funny. One of those distant relatives you never see but instantly bond with in just the few moments you have together. I'm suppose to send it back when its done its job.

We'll see.

strangle your neck

I've got a tangled mess around my neck today. I'm wearing a cardigan and a scarf and it's 90 outside today. It is ice cold in Le Office today though.

More posting to come later...

Independence Weekend part 2-Road Trip

We decided that Monday was going to be just our day. We had a holiday weekend plan: Sat we would spend in Utah County, Sun we spent the day with Tyrone's sister by the pool & bbq & watching movies and Monday would be just us.

We took a road trip to Idaho to buy some power ball lottery tickets since it's frowned upon in the state of Utah. Frowned upon? More like flat out illegal actually. There were more Utah license plates in the gas station parking lot than there were Idaho plates. I thought that was quite funny. We took the long way home through Weber canyon to Park City. Niether one of us had ever been through Weber canyon so it was a fun little adventure- hence the road map picture above. Park City was lovely, as usual but i'll get into that later.
