Love Bug Baby Shower

Jax is going to be here soon so we threw Rachel a shower because it's not fair that around here people only give them for their first kid. So dumb!!

I made these MS cookies. Damn her!! Damn her all to hell! These took way too long but they were good. I think the consensus was the pink cookies were better than the chocolate ones. I agreed.

I did another stupid thing and made some heart shaped cookie cutters. That didn't go over well when making the chocolate cookies but they did OK for the pink dough because it was much softer. 

We ate a ton of cheese and drank a lot of soda. I tried to hide in the corner most of the time but that didn't work out very well. I don't mind throwing a party if I don't have to do the actual hostessing part.

 

It snowed.

Why am I out of breath? Because I just shoveled that clear walkway all by myself. Not sure I've ever done that before until now.

7 Things

1. I ate a grilled, blackened talapia taco this week and was left a little turned on. I know that's weird to hear, but I had to get that off of my chest.

2. I have to make cookies tonight and I can't garauntee they will live to see Saturday.

3. Coffee tasted heavenly this morning and I was so happy that I walked around my office and gave everyone a hug and kiss right on the mouth. Oh my God, I can't even pretend that is something I would do. Can you imagine? It would be funny though.

4. I finished a big project for my shop this week and I am so happy with myself. It was a lot of work and planning. I started the idea last year and finally pushed myself to finish it.

5. My mom this bean and ham hock meal that is seriously so good. I think about it every day.

6. I'm so full right now.

7. We made my mom's eclair cake last weekend and it went so fast. It's so. damn. good.

And the moral of this post is, I love food.

There's this corner across from where I work downtown and I don't know why but I dig it.

Bag Restyle

I found this white bag at Savers and immediately thought of putting red hearts on it. Sometimes i don't plan anything out and just let inspiration like this happen. It is usually how most of my brilliant ideas happen (ha!). I love the bright pink on the inside and it has a ton of pockets. I'm not usually a glam bag gal and this one feels super girly so writing all over it seemed appropriate for my taste.

After a few minutes with a red sharpie - literally that is all I used for this.

I did clean up the surface I was writing on with some nail polish remover so that the sharpie had something to hold on to.

I don't even know why I picked hearts, but it is rather fitting for this time of year I guess. Now that I think of it I'm might have to gore it up a bit.

1. The most disconcerting thing has happened to me lately - coffee has been tasting horrible. It is breaking my cold heart.
2. I have a long weekend this weekend. Word to the muthafucken word.
3. I did something really hypocritical, for me, recently. It's so bad that I'm debating on whether or not to elaborate on here. Ok it's not that bad...relax.
4. I really wish that someone would buy me a house.
5. I've eaten about 23 smartie packs in two days all in about fifteen total combined minutes.
6. My mom and I are throwing my SIL a valentines themed baby shower. I never realized how perfect Valentines day would be if you had a baby around it - totally brings a lot more value to the ridiculous holiday doesn't it? I mean, not to get too sentimental, you know I only like to share my softer side when it's absolutely necessary (like, for baby animals exclusively) but it would just make it so much sweeter instead of causing the desire to shove a number 2 pencil in your temple. Because a number two pencil gets the job done. EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS!
7. It's funny how one split second of going on FB will anger me for the rest of the night.

a worthy wormhole

I love Marc Maron and his podcast. I can't put my finger on exactly why but turns out he is just a fantastic interviewer. I started the other morning listening to his interview with Dave Grohl and found myself particularly delighted and downright inspired. Which then led to me watching this doc about Peter Green and listening to Rumors the rest of the day. If you are a Fleetwood Mac fan you will enjoy that.

I hate Winter.

13 for 2013 mix

I picture myself sitting next to my juke box alone in my bedroom waiting for the perfect songs to come on the radio as not to miss the exact moment to push the record button. Mixtapes were/are the shit. I still love making them.

This list isn't for everyone, in fact I made it for myself and one other person specifically. There are some songs that are older and some that have shown up before on other mixes. I just wanted something fresh and new to jam to. I don't discriminate when it comes to music (except for country). OK that's not true at all.

Hey there, Stud {diy studded boots}

I found the perfect pair of cheap boots at Savers for $6.

I bought some studs and spikes from this etsy shop.

I spent a few nights (yes a few nights because I am super slow) poking holes through the pleather with various tools and ended up with some killer boots.

Using cheap pleather boots makes studding so much easier, at least I think so. These boots zip up the sides so I don't have to bother tying up the laces and I don't have to worry about poking myself with the studs I put on the tongues. 

7 Things

1. Season four of Sons of Anarchy gave me some serious bad dreams. I wouldn't say nightmares but it is seriously disrupting my beauty sleep. I made Tyrone turn it off for one night because it was getting to me that bad. Some shows will just do it for you. I can watch some sick shit so I don't know why it started fucking with me so bad.

2. The other day, as I was pulling into the parking garage on my lunch break, I looked down at my lap at the fries, fry sauce, and corndog on my lap and thought, "not the best decision of 2013 so far." I haven't made many good ones since then either.

3. Made fancy pants grilled cheese sandwiches with gouda and pears. They were perfect. I think my family had to convince themselves they like them except for my dad who refused to even try them. I had to make him a regular cheddar grilled cheese "hold the pears"

4. My mom in her BYU hoodie is funny for so many reasons, one being that she hates football or any sports for that matter, didn't go to college (let alone BYU), and isn't mormon. And yes I know you don't have to be mormon to like BYU but I mean come on?! And to top it off she has a red UofU one that she wears as well, and all because she just loves hoodies.

6. I have to say that I am going to like having Jimmy Kimmel on earlier. I hope he kicks those two washed up losers out of their spots.
