After we stood in line for the Blue October concert for almost an hour and after I had bitched the whole time we finally got inside to the crowded whole that is In The Venue. This place has been around in SLC forever and has had a million different names. I think they over the limit of people they let in too. Jenni kept mentioning how badly we would die if there were a fire and I kept thinking what a lovely thought to have when you're crammed into a small space surrounded by idiots that wouldn't think twice to stomp on my face trying to exit the burning building. We finally decided on staying upstairs in the 21 and older section even though I longed to be up close and personal to Justin's sweat but it was clear I was not getting with 5 feet or even 20 feet for that matter. I'm getting way too old to push through the crowds any more. And being that I haven't grown since 8th grade but everyone else did around me I get sick of staring at some dickhead's back the whole time. We found a decent spot on the balcony right behind two chicks.
The first spot we landed on had Tyrone in a brawl with a drunk woman and her boyfriend telling her what an idiot she was. Tyrone was trying to sneak into an open spot next to her by the rail and she pushed herself into him (like with her whole body as if she were in the WWF) trying to push him out of the way yelling obscenities at him while he stood there unmoved but later to return to us and all I heard was "I'll kick your ass you stupid bitch!" I was thinking at first what-the-fuh is he saying that for (I was not paying good attention) but then noticed her yelling at him and grabbing at him and her boyfriend pulling her back and telling her to shut the fuck up. I was laughing because it's usually me that gets into it with someone so I could laugh this one off more easily. BUT then the stupid woman comes over and I'm all thinking good she is coming over to apologize and she says "You can totally come over when the band starts and stand by us but just don't try to take our spot again, okay?" I quickly jumped in and said while I shewed her away with my hand, "We don't need your permission where to stand okay honey? So just go back to your spot and shut the hell up." I'm so mature. My mom is probably really proud reading this. I love calling dumb girls honey because I know how badly it pisses me off when someone does it to me. He wasn't even trying to take her spot. Someone next to her LEFT that had opened up a spot. That's just how the game is played at a concert you don't get to save every spot around you especially when it's elbow room only in the entire place. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've been pushed out of spots at many general admission shows. I won't even get into how old she looked or the fact that I probably should have just walked away from her since she was already waisted before the show even started. Classy!! There is a certain sense of class that just goes right out of the window at concerts. Me included.

Highlight of the night: Hearing X Amount of Words and having Justin look directly at me. Even though I was standing directly behind someone much larger than me on top of a balcony he totally looked at me. If anyone who follows me on twitter or is keeping track I didn't end of bawling my eyes out but it was still really, really good.
I did end up leaving jealous of the six year old girl who sat on her dads shoulders the entire time up front and was handed the set list directly by Justin himself. Sigh. How fun would that be to be able to be up front at a show sitting on someone's shoulders the entire time? You know how many awesome pictures I could have taken? I didn't see that little girl with a camera. I don't care how cute she was.
|There she is. She'll remember that forever.|
Why I like these guys so much? Their tour is called the Pick Up the Phone Tour which advocates suicide prevention. I love how open the lead singer is about his bipolar disorder and speaks out about it often. I love their lyrics and the honesty.
