DIY - hoodie makeover/revamp

This is a mild version of the bandleader and ringmaster jackets that I posted just previously (scroll down). I have a ripped out ad of this jacket from Kmart that I have really wanted and originally thought to do a makeover more similar to this one. I probably shouldn't admit this or post the picture of the Kmart jacket because it is way cuter than what I came up with. But, I ended up wanting to do something that was comfortable, wearable and more me. I found the gray hoodie at Ross for only $8.99. I had gone to Savers and Thrift Town to find a black cardigan or hoodie to makeover but came up with nothing. Plus a black cardigan that I almost bought from Savers was $9.99...an old cardigan that someone else had sweat in and drooled chocolate milk all over was almost ten bucks. That's not okay. I don't understand the pricing there sometimes. I could go on and on about that but I won't.

Take any hoodie, jacket, sweater, or cardigan and try this how-to yourself.

Before

After

I used black single fold bias tape and silver metal buttons to complete the look. I measured out six strips of the bias tape in different sizes. 2 strips of each size: 6 1/4", 6 1/2" and 7". I then folded each end down about 1/4 of an inch and pinned to my desired spot on the jacket making sure they all lined up perfectly. I put the largest strips on top and so forth. I pinned them slightly at an angle. After all strips were pinned I sewed them on with my sewing machine. Once they were all sewn on I hand sewed each button to the outside end of each strip. Done!

oh man this picture is so fudging bad
